Animal Shelter in Sophia

We started donating to this wonderful Rescue centre in Sofia, Bulgaria after a trip where we encounter a lovely street dog which we name Sofia.

She was super sweet and smart and ended up following us through the whole city for almost 2 hours.

She will stop at traffic lights, guide us thru the underpasses to cross major streets and will wait next to us before crossing any busy streets with cars. We will stop and sit and she will sit next to us. We even tried to lose her on our way back to our hotel and she got stressed out as we hid behind cars. It broke our hearts and when we appeared again to her she was super happy. Eventually we noticed she was tired and we sat in a sidewalk and she lay next to Maria’s feet to rest. Maria waited until she felt asleep and then she walked away of course in tears as we did not know what else to do with this dog.

In this picture you can see the dog left behind and my poor wife in tears and so was I.

After coming back to the city 4 days later we searched for Sofia but with no luck and then visited the local biggest animal rescue in the city. After seeing the huge need the animals had in this country we decided that the best thing to do for Sofia was to donate this wonderful organisation.
